Waikato Milking Systems was named the winner of the Supreme 2016 Air New Zealand Cargo ExportNZ Award and QBE Insurance Exporter of the Year ($10m to $25m category) Awards at a gala dinner in Auckland last week.
Presenting the Awards, Barry Squires, Convenor of ExportNZ Judges, described Waikato Milking Systems as ‘a New Zealand success story … an outstanding example of the growth of agritech exporters.’
Waikato Milking Systems CEO Dean Bell said the Awards were a “tribute to an extraordinary team of people – staff and dealers.”
It is the first year the Awards have been open to Waikato businesses and Dean Bell admits he felt honoured to be included in a line-‐up of finalists which include some of New Zealand’s pre-‐eminent innovators.
“Waikato Milking Systems has gained worldwide renown as one of the leading innovators and manufacturers of rotary milking systems and dairy technology.
“This reputation was cemented when we added the revolutionary Centrus Composite rotary platform a few years ago to an already extensive range of herringbone dairies and technology backed by extraordinary service.
“All of this innovation, design and manufacturing excellence is achieved by a team of extraordinarily talented Kiwi’s (staff and dealers) who ARE the Waikato Milking Systems brand.”
Dean Bell said he was proud to “represent a team which, to a person, share a commitment to be the best in a fiercely competitive global dairy technology market, producing innovative, superbly designed and built products which transform the milking environment and add new levels of ease and efficiency to the lives of farmers around the world.
“These Awards are a tribute to each member of that team and I am humbled and delighted to accept them on their behalf.”
