The reception is one event of a number of events being held in China in a visit by the Governor-General to reciprocate President Xi Jinping’s visit to New Zealand last year.

A small number of New Zealand businesses, including Waikato Milking Systems, were invited as special guests to accompany the Governor-General on parts of his visit.

Around 100 guests were invited to the reception held at the Temple Restaurant in the historic district of Beijing. Lady Janine Mateparae was present and the evening was opened by New Zealand’s Ambassador to China, Hon John McKinnon.
